Every one has been watching the news about the gulf oil disaster and have seen how bad it is.. or have we really.

I am sure that BP will attempt to fix things and do a decent job with the clean up. But this is just ONE small well out of hundreds.

The problem is far reaching though. Once the surface is cleaned up, the bottom of the ocean is still covered with the crude. The stuff on the bottom might be the worst part of the spill since the ocean creatures use the bottom for feeding and just hanging out.

The part that bugs me is why they do not have a simple manual valve to shut off any well like this?? What happens when the next well pipe is broke? Do we get the same deal?(we can't just shut it off?).

The so called blowout prevent-er is obviously just a joke and does not work. This device is just a shut off valve, that doesn't seem to work. These outfits have huge oil rigs with many valves, so why is this one valve no good, who engineered this thing and what else have they designed?

I would think the regulators would require a "manual shut down test" every year for all underwater wells. To me, this just makes common sense to have a simple valve to shut the thing off.

Just think,, if there was a simple way to shut the well off, nothing would have happened of any consequence. They would have lost some oil while they shut the valve,, how long should that take? 1 hour, maybe 2 hours.

What happens when the so called terrorists put small bombs on all the oil platforms in the ocean? No problem, we will just shut the wells off at the well head. Right?

All this congressional hearing stuff is a complete waste of time and NOTHING ever happens from them.

This should be a huge lesson to the Washington DC crowd that regulators should not be "in-bed" with the people they regulate. This is an ongoing problem with the US Government. The FAA, FCC and other so-called regulators have exactly the same defect when it comes to regulating the corporate sector.

I personally think the US Army Core of Engineers should have taken over the well head operation after 2 days of failure to shut this off. They probably would have lowered a big dome over the well head and fill it with concrete, then shut the valve on the dome. There are engineers that have proposed this from the beginning.

I feel sorry for the businesses that are suffering from this, but wonder how much of their troubles are actually from the US Governments policies that have sold out America and caused the economy to crash.
People wanting to be paid since they are loosing business. Are they serious???
Well, my business has suffered the same thing from Free Trade,, does that mean I should get paid from the US Government because they have failed America with their corporate favors?

It is so cool to see thousands of commercial aircraft grounded due to the earth quake.
I will bet we don't have any terrorists bothering those planes since the planes are where they belong,,, On the ground.

We need a nice active volcano in America to halt the irresponsible people that are addicted to flying.

There is no reason to allow over 700 flights a day to Europe every day.. That is worse than any Law the Us Government has ever passed.. You want to talk about a waste of money !! Here it is.

Nature has it's ways of telling the fuel wasting travelers that they are wrecking our world for NO good reason.

It's a big heads up to stay home and get off the dam planes.. The fuel and pollution from commercial aircraft is absurd, just so people that have way too much money and time on their hands can ruin the world with their "can't stay home" addiction.

There should be a limit as to how many times in a year that you can fly on a commercial airline. Why the airlines don't raise the prices, I have no clue.. But at the same time they want to nickel and dime people for everything in sight. Just charge them higher fees to fly.

The Us Government should charge a $100 dollar PER TICKET tax on all commercial flights.. That would be a small tax in comparison to other items that have over 50% tax. These irresponsible addicted fliers are ruining the planet and have NO sense of responsibility to the environment.

The airline ticket tax could pay off the national debt in a short period of time.

I've been a CoffeeCup user since 2003 and started out with the HTML editor. I must admit that in those days I knew very little, but the HTML editor made learning easy. It's a great tool. YES, I have tried other editors, but always go right back the CoffeeCup HTML editor. It just has so many neat features and it's so easy to use.. what can I say.. It is my choice for sure.

I figured if the editor was so good, I would try the other software. They all work great and I have a few favorites.. Form builder, Flash firestarter, Color schemer, Pix converter and recently the Shopping cart creator and Shopping cart designer.

What the heck, I bought every program they offer because the prices are easy to handle and with free upgrades how can you beat that.. And they have a trial of every program if your not sure about spending a few bucks for the registered version.. Most trial software only half works for 15 days, but CoffeeCup is fully functional until YOU decide it's time to spend your money. NICE

And guess what, they give you free stuff when you least expect it. I like that too.

I have used all the software including the Image mapper,, boy that one is neat and a huge time saver with nice results. Just wish I could post a URL to a few pages where that came in handy. The Flash photo gallery has saved a lot of time working on client sites.. because I build sites for people now too.

Sooo, one day I decided to spend some time on the CoffeeCup web site and see what was going on other than software. The site is really neat, easy to use, has lots of nice poeple to help and chat with.. How cool is that.

Have you ever wanted to actually talk or email the owner of a company only to find out they don't want to reply to you. WELL, at CoffeeCup you can talk to owner, developers, office people and anyone else you want to hear from. I even had a CoffeeCup developer help me on Sunday once( as it turned out the problem was my server).. Wow, what a company.
Really, how many software outfits can you say this about? not many that I know of.

They just had an Easter egg hunt on the CoffeeCup web site. They are just giving away whole packages of software for the different eggs planted on the site.. lol, I just love it.

It's an awesome outfit with great people and the best business model I have seen in many years. The whole deal gets a HUGE thumbs UP from me. Go for it!

The planners in Columbus are repeating history again, will they ever get it right?

I remember when they pushed every one to get City Center built saying it was the future of downtown Columbus..City center was a looser right from the start and it was a bad idea to begin with.

Update.......
They finnaly shut down the track and built walls to hold the riders in.. It's about dam time. They have known about the issues on this track for well over a year. Still, the track is too fast and the speed needs to be reduced to a maximum of 70 MPH..
They ran a practice run and it turned 85 MPH-- That's too fast.
It's not how fast the rider goes, it's the one with the best time to complete the run without errors.

When one person dies when practicing on the luge track, it throws a BIG RED FLAG that the track is not safe and needs to be closed. They are just going to say OH WELL, one person died, NO BIG DEAL, it's only a human life and we don't even give a dam.
The whole thing was a total waste of human life...
There is no reason to have any exposed steel beams anywhere even close to a track like that.. What the hell are these people thinking, what kind of Drugs are they on?
But they are just going to blame the rider, Why not, he can't speak back to them because he is dead.
I think all people should boycott the Luge altogether because of the Olympic committees lack of responsibility.
The track has been called a death track anyway and it should have been fixed long ago. Duuuuuu.
At the very least it should have a net to keep the riders on the track should they fly out of form.
Maybe we will see more people die and THEN maybe they will do something about it.

Hopefully no one else will have to be killed to get this thing fixed. They have not lowered the speed to a reasonable number yet..

Most people in America will fly or drive to get to their destination. As you know, there are way too many planes in the air and those fuel wasting commercial planes are all outdated. And the high way his overloaded with those fuel wasting SUV's and pickup trucks.. the people that still drive them should be taxed extra for their wasteful use of fuel.

I recently drove 2 hours to visit my Mom for xmass. It's ok to drive a short distance, but I would rather ride a train for that trip. I don't care how fast the train would travel, because the time is usable when you don't have to watch traffic. It would be neat to have internet access on the train so you could use a laptop. Many people would use the time to catch up on some sleep or just sight see along the way.

I really think we need to get back to using trains again like we had many years ago before the cars took over the transportation front. It is sad that many of the rail lines or tracks have been torn up over the years. We sure could use them now. Most of the old trains were electric powered with over-head power lines, but we could do it differently these days with our technology. I am quite sure we could come up with something that would be energy efficient and by using light weight passenger cars would help the cost of operation. A rail line is far cheaper than a road to build.

The state of Ohio is trying to get federal funds to help with a high speed rail system and I am all for it. Once it is in place and people get used to using the train, I am sure the system would be expanded to include more cities and towns. And train stations are much cheaper to build and maintain than airports are. Small towns would just need a platform to make boarding easy for disabled people. The train system would also provide stable employment for lots of people too, which would be great for the state of Ohio.There is no reason that we can't build and maintain the trains right here in Ohio which will provide additional jobs, not to mention maintaining the tracks. I personally think having a job connected with the rail system would be just fine.

Lets hope that the rail system gets funding and is installed quickly.. It will help the future of travel in Ohio.

Anyone that has been following the news has no doubt seen the big deal about the attempted plane bomb.

I am very happy that the guy did not get his device to explode.. because everyone could have died in a crash. The planes are not safe as it is when everything goes right or the way it should. Yes, they have a good record for as many takeoffs and landings they do. Keeping in mind the commercial aircraft are completely worn out and outdated. Personally, I won't get on a commercial aircraft, but I'm happy to fly in a chopper or private plane because they get much better care than any commercial aircraft does.

The TSA has to deal with all the people that just can't get it together to stay in their own town or city.. oh no, they have to fly someplace... Must be nice to have all that extra time and money to through away. These spoiled rotten people are now complaining that they have to be scanned before boarding a plane.. SO WHAT, deal with it or stay home for a change.

If the idiots from across the pond want to blow up planes, then stop flying planes to America from across the pond.

put all these people through a thorough inspection just before they walk down the ramp to board. If they don't like it, then they can stay home.

Yes, the US Government is at fault due to the ignorance of the federal agencies not working together.. duuu.. Who pays their salary?? Well, if they can't work hand in hand, then people need to be fired until the word gets out that if you don't work with other agencies that you will loose your job.

But since he is about to have a divorce, he will loose most of the money and toys he has bought.. Just because he can't keep his pants on...
