Valentine's Day

Saint Valentine's Day (commonly simply Valentine's Day) is an annual holiday held on February 14 celebrating love and affection between intimate companions. The holiday is named after one or more early Christian martyrs named Valentine and was established by Pope Gelasius I in 496 AD. It is traditionally a day on which lovers express their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering confectionery, and sending greeting cards (known as "valentines"). The holiday first became associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in the High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished.

, but the good stuff is up there ^
Happy are those who celebrate Valentine's day this season. But two days before, the commemoration of the life of Abraham Lincoln was being celebrated with deepest respect and gratitude for the beloved president. Friday, February 12th is Lincoln's Birthday – though he can't be having that happy a birthday, as he has passed on. He was certainly one of the most important presidents in US history, and he certainly receives great adulation to this day. He was born February 12th, 1809 – as was Charles Darwin. (Turns out Lincoln was something of an agnostic himself, and very melancholy, but he had good reason to be.)
