The profit over everything system we have now is so outdated, it belongs in a history book some place.  Call or Write your congressman and raise hell with them. If the corrupt insurance industry and the lobbyists win, America will LOOSE !  We have so many people that are going bankrupt from the health insurance not covering the costs when getting sick.. We just can't keep the old ways.. The people that are wealthy don't really have a problem, as long as they can pay, pay, pay without draining there big nest egg. Most of us, however are not that well off and get killed with medical expenses.  The Insurance companies are the ones stopping it from changing. AND The politicians are getting election money from those insurance companies which is a big problem too.
The single payer system is working in other countries, we must follow their lead.
Does America always have to be LAST to finally "get it" ???????

I have to agree with you, the

I have to agree with you, the system is broke. Some people think it's just fine, until they have a problem and find out the Insurance either won't pay, drops their coverage or jacks up the rate so high they no longer have health care at all. Then they go bankrupt trying to pay all the high medical bills after paying the insurance for many years

I am sure we could have a system that uses a single payer type of structure, but the Insurance companies have been making so much money, it will be difficult to stop that part.  But the Insurance companies are not getting the job done. The idea behind insurance is to spread the cost over many people, not to deny claims and raise premiums.

The bottom line is, the insurance companies are not doing what they are suppose to be doing. I don't think they have any regualtions either, or the regulations are not being enforced.

The future of our nation is at stake here.

This issue is going to be tough one to get in action...
We must change health care to a non-profit public utility. If that means a single payer system, then that's what we must do. Are there going to be problems ? YES, but there will be more problems if we don't do this.

The people that are against this are the same profitieers that have been fighting it all along. The insurance companies must buy back all stock and pull out of wall street. They will still have a roll in providing health coverage as a non-profit agency. They will still employ people to do paperwork, pass payments on to providers and provide customer service, but with out the profit mentality. Other countries are doing this and it is working well.

The president seems to be trying to please everyone while trying to make major changes... That is unrealistic!  If wall street wins, America looses. Wall Street=Insurance Companies and stock holders. The capitalists have had their chance and they have failed.
One huge problem is the CHILDISH mentality of the Congress and Senate.. They won't bring something to the table if it won't get them re-elected or bring them election money.  This is business as usual-- We must change the way Washington works!  If their only concern is favors and re-election, our country is Screwed. As it has been for 20+ years.
When will we see some change that actually benefits our country as a whole, instead of the mess they have created to benefit the wealthy few.

We'll all lose...........

When Uncle Sam...that is IF Uncle Sam gets the chance to control our medical needs as doctor care and such then we'll all lose. What will we lose......mostly our loved ones and the elderly and the infirmed. The special care and concerns of critically ill people will be overlooked or denied by "the system"  so those people will "disappear" (die) from Uncle Sam's book of non working, non wage earning nor tax paying citizens. Uncle Sam cares not what it can do for the public but what the public can do for Uncle Sam.

The Canadian "free medical care" system is a pathetic crock of bull doodaa as there's thousands dieing daily from services they desperately need and medications they can't attain. And we're suppose to follow the Canadian health care system. Wake up America before you're in a hospital one day and being denied services because Uncle Sam said no you're not worth it.

I ask you this....why does the ordinary citizen get whatever Uncle Sam's willing to give but all the people in government get a choice and special benefits. Answer.......because what we get is nothing and the politicians are "special". Oh...you ask who made them special.......not a hard question to answer...it was the government.

Government is irresponsible

I think we should leave the whole deal up to insurance companies or corporations.

Eventually all insurance companies will merge into one company that supplies all heath care in America.
I trust that they will serve the public in every way and they will cut costs as any profit-over-everything corporation will do, as all people know. AND they will cut costs because they have no choice but to feed the hungry wolf called the stock market and the investors.

The health care coverage will automatically get worse with less and less choice in order to control costs.
As a result, anyone that gets an illness will be dropped or forced out of their health care system.

And we should also stop all medicare coverage and let the private sector insurance companies supply that too. If we don't want government in health care then they should get out completely.

Lets make up our minds, we either don't want the government involved or we do.

If the private sector is handles everything, then regulations for insurance companies are the order of the day.

Now that means:
** No companies over a certain size or number of covered persons.
** No preexisting conditions, that is gone in America
** No person can have their rates changed during an illness.
** All insurance companies have to fill rate changes ONE year in advance.
** If they file a rate increase, all people with that same policy get the same exact increase.
** No person can be turned down by any insurance company
** All Americans must buy a policy:::
** If a person can not afford insurance because their job doesn't pay enough to live in this country...
The government will subsidize the cost from all the money that the insurance companies give to the politicians now.

Just A partial list........

The Republicans are against America

The Republicants are anti-American.

If they don't give a DAM about the people in this country, why don't they pack their bags and get out.

Haven't we had enough of the Republican Pro-Corporate crap! That is the problem with this country, that is the problem with the economy. I hope all their precious corporate buddies go broke and end up in the street with NO health care. They desearve it.

The Anit-American Democraps that follow the Republicans like some blind, dumb sheep should leave on the same boat.

hey tester, can you say that any bigger?

The size function works! Looks like it's been tested.

Maybe they should just leave the leave the health care as it is, but take out peexisting conditions and make the minimum wage 30 or 40 dollars an hour. Then everyone could afford the high or rising premiums.

They have a good start with

They have a good start with doing away with preexisting conditions. But there are no regulations to control the greed of the insurance companies. As the bill stands now, everyone will have very high cost insurance. There was no requirement that I heard that requires insurance companies to provide coverage for all that want it. But there was a requirement that everyone have health coverage. The republicans have screwed America yet again. I guess this means that we go 2 steps forward, but no real meaningful advancement as a whole. The insurance companies have no real regulations which control them or stop them from gouging everyone. The health insurance companies should have a regulation to be non-profit.

Congress and senate

@tester, The issue goes deeper than just the republicans. All the congressman and senators have health care provided by or subsidized by the tax payers.

The plans they choose from include:

The plan covers their whole family
No preexisting conditions will exclude them from coverage
No maximum lifetime limit to benefits
They can keep the policy for life
They pay about 1/4 or less than the normal cost for such a policy

I am sure there are many other features that the American people do not have and have no access to.
My point is... The politicians have the perfect plan along with an income that is way over most people( $170,000.00 per year ). They have no motivation to fix anything because they have better then the best of both worlds. Too much time off, too much money for what they do(or don't do), and health care paid for by you and me.

That is why they don't give a dam, because they have it made. They are self centered(me, me, me). If they did not have these HUGE benefits, they would be all over it. In fact, it would have been done many years ago.

Republicans are showing their true colors again

This week has really brought out the true colors of the Republican party..

They are against everything that will make our country better for the majority of the people.
They are against the people of this country.
Their big reason is the cost... but WAIT just a minute...

The thing is, they are all for wild uncontrolled spending on invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan.
They are yelling about the national debt, BUT why is the debt so high?? The military spending is the problem.
Because of the debt occurred from unnecessary invasions, China now owns much of the national debt..
This is wrong anyway and the lack of oversight by the Congress and the Senate has caused this problem.
Communist countries should never be allowed to buy any US securities.

If the war mongers would have stayed home and put that money into health care, it would have been paid for many times over.

Higher health care cost coming to Ohio

Now the Communist State of Ohio is going to raise your cost of hospital care by taxing the Hospitals with an illegal franchise fee.

The governor and the lawmakers should all be Fired.
They sent all the manufacturing to COMMUNIST China.
Now they are going to screw everyone for their support of Free Trade.
The biggest problem America has is the irresponsible government.
Free Trade was bad for America and it always will be.. Duuuuuuuuuuuu

Congress ans Senate screwing up again

well, they have messed up the health care reform so far. Now we have washington traitors tring to get their 15 minutes of fame and show their power to stop progress ion America.

If these congressman and senators don't want to serve the people in America, they should pack their bags and get out of our country.
