I don't understand why we can never celebrate the 4th of July on the 4th of July, instead of on the 3rd with the fireworks.  The 4th is on a Saturday this year, and we should have the fireworks on Saturday, and the boat parade on the same day, like it used to be.  Somebody always has to change things and mess it up.  Thanks, Cathy Pushea

You do have a point.

You do have a point. Especially when it's not during the week. With the fourth being on  a Sat this year, I don't see any reason for doing it on the third either. You know, I never really thought about it till I read your comment. Maybe we should post a poll  or a survey about it.

Okay folks, listen up because

Okay folks, listen up because this is important over here! Why cant we all just not debate our issues with the dates, etc - and just appreciate that it is happening to begin with. We would really be pissed if we were told "sorry folks no more fireworks or 4th celebration over at the lake"... right?  I mean lets face it, we are all still going to have a wonderful time and enjoy good company!

@Top Shelf Co-Captain ,, You

@Top Shelf Co-Captain ,, You have a very good point.. This is not the place to get into the war talk..But talk about the date is important for Buckeye Lake...

I have moved those postings to a new Forum Topic, our-people-serving-war, which is a good place to talk about it anyway..

I hope no one is mad at me for doing that.. I did not change any words,, just moved it to a better place for a good healthy talk or debait.. whichever. Pluss, we will see more people add their thoughts to the thread that way.

Back to the topic at hand,, could we have the fireworks on the 4th? or is it ok the way it is. I think Red White and Boom is on the 3rd..

We might get more people to come here if it were on the fourth... It would be good to have more people enjoy the Fireworks over the lake.

I don't think the show will

I don't think the show will be cancelled or -not happen-, and if it was cancelled, everyone would just go someplace else. We do want as many people as possible to visit Buckeye Lake for our great fireworks show.

I notice that Seneca Lake has theirs scheduled every year for the closest Saturday night to the 4th.

They do that so more people can enjoy the show.  But If they have it here on the 4th, some people will not want it because they want to attend  fireworks someplace else on the 4th.

I do understand their motivation. Red White and Boom is the only other big show around, other than the one in Cincinnati on the river.

For what it's worth, I agree with it should be on Sat. night...

First of all, thank you for

First of all, thank you for moving those comments.  They were inappropriate for this particular forum.

I have just recently (last week) discovered this website and I am very glad that someone has put up a great site for the lake.  I intend to check in regularly, register and post to the threads whenever something catches my eye.

As for the fireworks, I would prefer the 4th as well but I think there are conflicts with the company that sets off the fireworks or something with the State of Ohio Parks.  I read about it a couple of years ago when the change was made.  I used to have huge parties on the 4th and people would come out and stay for the fireworks.  Most people don't have the July 3rd off work to go to a party so I stopped having mine.  I agree that more people would come out for the 4th on the 4th.

BTW, I am a year round resident and still don't mind the crowd on the 4th.  I always looked forward to it.

We are new to the community.

We are new to the community. My husband has always worked the 4th of july. The last few yrs he has not had to. Last eayr we spent 4 wonderful days in Hillsborro, Ohio for a 3 day free concert fireworks event. Parade, vendors, etc.

This year due to economic reasons and the fact that we moved to this wonderful town we will most likely look for festivities in our own area.

I would also like to see the fire works done on the 4th of July. I don't know why red, white and book does theres on the 3rd.

Does it get busy here? Will there be alot of people? What all is offered? Do we have any vendors? parade? activities? or just fire works? Fire works is fine and would be so nice to see. How many years has Buckeye Lake set off fire works?

well,, lets see,, when I was

well,, lets see,, when I was a little kid the fireworks lasted about 10 minutes, THAT has changed BIG TIME..!! We have a huge show that rivals most any show you have seen. It even has a symocast on one of the radio stations to go with it.
Everyone putts out those candle things that is on the water front. It is really a site to see.

And, there is a boat parade around the lake on Sat about 11am or 12noon.. The parade has a theme each year and the people dress up their boats...
As far as vendors and other things going on around the lake.. not sure, but there is other activities.. I just don't know about all of them..yet..
Off Topic...
I will say that is the reason this web site was formed was to help people find out about local events. Some stuff is in the paper, and some stuff is on fliers in different places and some stuff is word of mouth. All we need is more people to post their events. I only wish there was a budget to advertise this site, but there is $0.00 dollars to do it. The server fees and the web development is all we can handle at this point. (The server is a custom built hybrid  with all the best parts money can buy.) So that leaves word of mouth, which has been happening, but takes longer.

question: can the fireworks be seen from Brooks Park? We thought about having a cookout over there and watching the fireworks.

What about Mud Island can it be seen from there?

no boat so only on shore. I guess where all can you see the firworks from if you are on land? Could one see it from north shore area? Like near pizza cottage?

The answer is yes to all..

The answer is yes to all.. lol.. I once watched from Brooks beach and it was fine. It is better if you are someplace on the water front to get a better perspective and be more a part of it. It's nice to see all the boats out and the shore line all lite up too. I am thinking of going to Brooks Beach myself this year.

I read about luminaries.

I read about luminaries. where will they be?

cool. maybe we'll meet in person. :)

I posted on facebook about looking for fireworks or something to do when someone responded saying "I'm coming to your place". That reminded me we have fireworks right here.

We always went out of town but then again we just moved here. kinda neat having it in my own home town.

Yeah Buckeye Lake!

Usually they are all around the water front. It is a voluntary  thing, but most people on the main lake do it.

We have a summer place at the

We have a summer place at the lake.   The fireworks used to be on the fourth and there were huge crowds of people at the lake.  Since the fireworks were changed to the 3rd, the crowd has gotten small.  The north bank used to be a gala event.  Not so anymore.   It is sad.

We always had big family get

We always had big family get together too when it was on Saturday.. It was a great time. This year, well.. no none in my family is coming to the lake for the fourth.

We always had people file in all day for a cookout and then later head out on the lake... The people that came out before noon would go out to see the boat parade and go back to the cottage to visit until cookout time. It was like a family Reunion.

If I was a rich guy, I would form a new fireworks outfit for the Lake and do it the right way.

The Beacon reported that

The Beacon reported that donations were down for this year which is expected due to the state of the economy. We have no idea how much was or has been donated because the blast org is not transparent. Their web site is very limited as far as information and updates goes. But they do have plenty of annoying animated gifs scattered all over the page, go figure.

All IRS- non-profits should post all revenue to the public by law..

anyway, they are going to do it on the 3rd, so we will watch them here on the 3rd and go someplace else for 4th of July fireworks.

Don't worry, they should be

Don't worry, they should be putting on a good show. It has been a real nice in past years. I was just on their web site and they don't even have a donate button that I can see.. strange. Heck, they could use paypal for donations. I think this web site should have a donate button too.. hint, hint administrator..

The Fireworks are on the 3rd

The Fireworks are on the 3rd of July at 10PM.. first launch.

If you are coming from Lancaster, Fairfield beach would be good, which is real close to where they launch them. You would want to go just west of the beach about 300 feet, out on the point.. take a blanket or chair with you.

You can see them from Brooks Beach also, but it's farther away than fairfield beach.

Sorry Guest and Tricia, I was

Sorry Guest and Tricia, I was doing programming from 5pm till 10pm.. or I would have replyed with some answers for you.

Well, I hope everyone found a spot to see the fireworks.. I took a break from working on the web site long enough to go outside and listen to them and say hi to my neighbor. I got most of the things working that I started on and tested some of it.. still woking on a javascript date picker for events and may get that done tonight..

Remeber the boat parade is Saturday starts at noon 'liebs island' and runs east along North bank to Capt. Woody's.
