Just about to give up on twitter and twitter feed
I have spent many hours attempting to get twitter to work properly and the same goes for twitter feed.
Six months ago, everything was working just fine,, until the so-called smart people decided to change things, for what reason I have no idea. It seems they just can't leave anything alone when it actually works.
These people keep changing things and put the whole deal off on the web administrators to figure out how to make them work with each change.
I am beginning to think that twitter and twitter feed are a complete waste of time. Maybe in a few years they all might be on the same page with all their changes and make all services work the same with the same protocol.
People using twitter for financial gain and greed, a 'real' look at it...
I just had to write a blog post about this after reading several stories about blocking people on Twitter. The people that are advocating the idea that you should never block someone are the people trying to use it for financial gain. You guessed it, they don't want to be blocked, because they want to plant their garbage everywhere with their automated tools. Don't get me wrong about automated tools, but what are they being used for?? Twitter was not meant to be a spam harvesting arena, it was meant to be a place to connect with "people".
I do not see anything wrong with people that have a business of their own that promote them selves and their own product or service to the community as a whole. That is a respectable activity and I am all for it.
But many people are pushing products that are NOT theirs, like the affiliate crap. One of them is some Satellite TV garbage.. When you see a profile that has 1 entry with a link to a website, "BLOCK" them because they are NOT involved in any type of social networking. If people like that are "following you", you should most certainly "BLOCK" them immediately. If everyone in the Twitter community would do that, Twitter will be a much better place to visit.
Some say that it doesn't mater as long as you don't follow them...WRONG. You should BLOCK those people from following you immediately and without hesitation. Why? because when they follow you, they are planting that crap on your page. It's just that simple.
It takes me a few days to catch on, but I do learn very fast.
The twitter module is still broke
Update is that the module is broke if you have a twitter name with an underscore.. Since the buckeyelake name is BuckeyeLake_org, the module is still broke. Oh well, maybe someday it will work.

After many hours of messing things up, only to find out that the underscore in the BuckeyeLake_org twitter user name was the trouble. It's working for posting, but not for adding it to your account page. I recommend having a twitter name that is all one word until a work around is found. I think most people have that anyway.. But some don't. For those of you that have underscore names, I can add a flash widget to your page for now.
As I find out more on the issues with it, I will make changes to smooth things out.
edit, update. Due to the twitter module causing system errors, it has been disabled till further investigation. 8/2009
edit update 12/2009. The twitter module is still broke for twitter names that have an underscore. If any one wants the twitter function, let me know and I will turn it back on.
